The Learning Hub works in partnership with parents, education
providers, statutory agencies and the wider Limerick community to
provide a safe, welcoming and inspiring learning environment where
young people can reach their true potential.
THE SCIENCE HUB
The Science Hub is the first initiative of its kind in Limerick City.
The Science Hub primarily works with primary school children, their
teachers, and parents to deliver engaging and exciting experiences of
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math's (STEM).
THE ROLE:
The role of the part-time Science teacher is to work with local DEIS
schools to deliver fun and engaging Science workshops and to teach
afterschool Science classes at the hub.
MAIN DUTIES:
* Organizing and teaching outreach Science classes for children

and on location in schools and around the city
* Assisting Science Hub Coordinator with curriculum development,
material and resource design for STEM and STEAM programs
* Report to and collaborate closely with the Science coordinator
* Help maintain the Science lab and classroom space
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
* Candidates must possess a relevant 3rd Level Qualification,
Preferably in areas of Science education, science or education.
* Candidates must have experience working with children and teaching
classes.
* Demonstrable interest in STEM subjects.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
* Excellent administration and organizational skills
* Computer literate able to use MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel &
PowerPoint
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Comfort with teaching and managing a classroom
* Creative and innovative teaching approach.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of working with
children
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
* Ability to priorities work, plan workload and manage time
effectively
* Commitment to education and interested in the work that the
Learning hub does in the community.
